Bournemouth University is pleased to host the 16th Young Coastal Scientists and Engineers Conference (YCSEC) on 4th-5th April 2022. After two years of postponements, we are very glad to be able to host YCSEC 2022 with participants physically attending the sessions in our Talbot Campus. YCSEC bring together early-career researchers and practitioners, such as PhD students, postdoc researchers and recently qualified professionals, with expertise and interests in the coastal environment. We hope you will enjoy the programme of keynotes, posters, oral presentations, field visit and conference dinner. We welcome all participants and hope you will take full advantage of the opportunities to network while enjoying your stay in the southwest coast.

Dr Lu Esteves, Chair of the YCSEC 2022

YCSEC is held annually at different locations across the UK, with the model now being replicated in the USA and Australia. This conference is designed to promote integration and research connections between early-career scientists and engineers working in coastal research and practice in the public or private sectors. We are keen to highlight that there is no age restriction for attendance at this conference and not all of us are ‘young’. YCSEC provides a welcoming and supporting environment to present and discuss research. It is a great opportunity to interact with a small community of researchers, allowing you to expand your knowledge and network.
